Specialist in transport and infrastructure planning for local government

Peter Rufford is the owner of Avalon Enterprises Pty Ltd.  He has over thirty years of experience in highway, transport and infrastructure planning in both the public and consulting sectors.

His early career as a civil engineer during the 1970s was in pavement materials and research. This was followed by a five year period in the Northern Territory (1979-1984) as a road planner involved in feasibility studies and network planning.

Since then, he has worked as a transport and infrastructure planner, including six years (1990-1996) with the transport planning consultancy Travers Morgan Australia Pty Ltd.

He worked for the Australian Local Government Association between 1996 and 1999 on transport and infrastructure policy in local government.

He has practiced as an independent consultant since 1999 and provides consulting services to a range of clients including the National Transport Commission and the Australasian Railways Association.

He has also worked on six road planning projects in China over the last ten years.
