Peter has a background in land use and environmental planning, infrastructure planning, community engagement, business systems and project management. In the area of professional associations, Peter has been School and Faculty Board member at Griffith and QUT Universities planning courses, Planning Institute of Australia (Qld Div) Executive Committee Member, and national Vice President. He is also a member of the Queensland environmental Law Association and Australian Institute of Transport Planning Management. |

Peters training includes: · Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning, University of New England · Environmental Auditor · Various short courses in IT, project management, corporate governance and human resource management Industry Experience Over the last twenty years, Peter has
designed and implemented a variety of programs for private and public sector
organisations in the principles and techniques of land use, social and
transport planning. Peter has
also been principal consultant on private developments for intensive animal
husbandry, extractive industry, urban village design, industrial and
subdivision proposals. In local
government Peter rose to the position of chief planner at
Mulgrave Shire (Cairns). As a senior planner, Peter played a leadership role
in the development of planning scheme instruments, development assessment
and the corporate governance of local government. Since 1990, he has been involved in the
development of infrastructure projects with an emphasis on land and
transport management. Following a further period of consulting in
the early 1990s principally in the area of priority infrastructure
schemes and planning instruments, Peter took up the position of
Environmental Manager in state government. In this role, Peter co-ordinated the
expansion of the departments capacity in and the level of significance of
land use planning, community consultation and the environment within the
infrastructure planning, design and construction process, including: ·
development of commercial business units ·
research and development ·
land use and transport integration ·
project design, approval procedures ·
infrastructure needs assessment ·
land use development and environmental assessment ·
training programs ·
a 100% success record in over 40 appeals in the Planning and
Environment Court More recently Peter has
been responsible for: ·
the coordination, assessment and amendment of local government
planning schemes in Qld ·
the definition of road hierarchies ·
land use and infrastructure design ·
infrastructure project management ·
infrastructure funding and contribution schemes In 2004 Peter re-entered the
consultancy arena and has recently carried out a land use and transport
study for the Tamworth Regional Council, as well as advising the Qld
government on staff resources, the Integrated Planning Act and the IDAS
