Best Practice – Sealed Surfacings

Current practice in sealed surfacings is listed in order of life cycle cost ($/m2/yr) from lowest to highest.  Also shown are the key variables affecting life cycle cost identified in pilot council testing.

Care is to be taken in interpreting the best practice reports as there are many factors which affect life cycle costs including pavement strength, availability and cost of aggregate materials, haul distance of bitumen and higher relative costs of asphalt surfacing providing additional benefits above spray seals.
